Date: 1700-1750 Place: Netherlands Price: € 880
Article-nr.: B151 Order this object Description;
A pair of blue and white antique Delftware plates. Made in the first half of the 18th century in Delft, at the De Twee Scheepjes workshop in Delft.
The plates are heavily influenced by the Chinese and Japanese export wares of the time, which were very fashionable indeed. Some Delft potteries emulated in varying degrees, the Oriental world. On these two plates, this is clearly reflected not only in the tone of glazing, but also the choice and manner of painting the Oriental subjects.
These floral topics are all based around themes of bamboos, peonies, cherry blossom and other plants. A rather agreeable pair of very ornamental wall plates.
Condition; Both plates are in good condition, the glaze has some very fine crazing, and the edges have some slight nibbles and wear to the glaze. The backs and foot rims are in very good condition. They still carry a crude 19th century wire wall fixture. The centimeter size is ca, Base diameter; 11.0 Height; 3.2 Rim diameter; 23.0
