Description;

An antique, boxed set of 6 silver gilt apostle spoons and a sugar tong. The calf skin box is gilt and tooled, marked inside as “Manufacturing Goldsmiths& Silversmiths Company of Regents Street London".

This very beautifully crafted set of gilt silver tableware, fully hallmarked for London ca. 1882, made by J. Aldwinckle & J. Slater. Furthermore, it is also hallmarked with the Royal Netherlands silver quality hallmarks. These quality and charming barley twist articles, all display the Victorians leaning towards historical themes of yore. The ecclesiastical subject matter is of course, the 12 apostles and the idea of humanity reaching out for the stability of a staff to lean on.

A very nice set for some very special occasion and also for the collector. This set would indeed, give quite a heightened idea of having an English “High Tea” with all the trimmings.
